K2 Shaxe

A multi-function product to lighten the loads that backcountry skiers carry. The Shaxe features an interchangeable shove blade and ice axe head.

Complex engineering, rapid prototyping and field testing were used to transform the initial idea into a final product. The shovel and axe had to utilize strong, simple connections, and pass various international strength requirements.

The Shaxe was released successfully in 2013, and was sold for over 10 years, subsequently being expanded into the full Shaxe product line sold by BCA.
